Fr. Michael Keiser

KM-52-01     Overcoming the World: Evangelism in the Western Roman Empire
Fr. Michael says the Orthodox Church has used many ways to evangelize but there are certain principles which are always used.  Success has come when the evangelists engaged each new culture and transformed it.  This is a lively and very enlightening talk about missionary activity in the early Church.

KM-52-02     Taking the Gospel North: Conversion of the British Isles
This is history with life and conviction.  The story of St. Patrick of Ireland is fascinating as is the monastic mission to England.  Fr. Michael gives a very visionary message.

The Orthodox Church in Alaska 1997 Eagle River Institute Presentation
Fr. Michael Oleksa

Fr. Michael has first hand knowledge of the culture of native Alaska and can speak in many of their languages.  He is a very popular speaker and a superb storyteller.  This series gives the history of Alaska over the last 250 years and woven through each message is the Orthodox World View which shows the power of the gospel of Christ in the lives of the natives and those who brought the message.  These tapes on Alaska are excellent.  It's a story about people and how they acted against incredible forces to bring the Church to Alaska.  And the story about a possible new saint is very touching.

This series of talks is also more than a story about Alaska.  Here is a model for evangelizing any culture, including our own today.  The Orthodox Model for evangelizing is very different than that of the Protestant and Roman missionaries.  This is a real treasure to be mined.

Fr. Michael is much in demand as a "counselor" with the natives of Alaska and is called on often by the State of Alaska and the Federal government to help resolve local disputes in schools.  Fr. Michael's knowledge of the Orthodox faith and the Native culture and history make this an amazing set of tapes.

The 20th Century: A Century of Growth and Change 1999 Eagle River Institute Presentation
Fr. Gregory Rogers

Beginning with the first Orthodox missionaries to Alaska in 1794, Fr Gregory Rogers tells the detailed story of the how we arrived in 1999 with so many Orthodox groups.  In these 8 hours, you'll learn about the Greeks, Russians, Serbians, Lebanese, and the general flow of American Orthodox Church history.

You'll hear about the major personalities that established these churches and how they worked together and how they disagreed.  This is a pretty detailed history taught with tenderness.  There are lots of dates and people as in any history but when you have finished the series, you'll have a greater appreciation for the next steps in North America toward a united Orthodox Church.

Please listen to these tapes in order because it's a continuous story.
