AD-93-01 Chanting
This was a workshop given at his own church. Explanation of chanting and examples of how it’s done.
AD-93-02 Liturgical Music
Explanation of what music should do and the role it plays in our worship.
Nativity is a major holiday in the United States of America but
it is not nor has ever been a major feast in the Orthodox Church. However, the church does have many beautiful hymns which
could be sung at the services during Nativity.
This choir workshop features three messages by His Grace
†Bishop BASIL that will help in understanding the importance of Nativity in our own lives
and how the hymns we do have, were developed in church history. The teaching is very practical.
EB-93-01 From Cave to Cave
This teaching by †Bishop BASIL develops the history of Nativity and shows
its importance in our salvation. Also the Bishop teaches the choir to sing the Aploytkion for the Forefeast of the
Nativity of Christ (Special Tone 4).
EB-93-02 How the Odes of Nativity were Developed
The nine odes are based on seven Old Testament Scriptures and two in the New Testament. The explanation
of the major theme in each scripture is very helpful in understanding the development of the odes.
EB-93-03 God is With Us
What is the true meaning of Christmas? Nature was turned upside down at the Nativity and it has remained
upside down to this day. The same Creator of Adam later became a Son of Adam. Side two is the choir presentation with 12
Nativity hymns.
