Kh. Frederica Mathewes-Green is a wide-ranging author, whose work has appeared in such many national publications. She has published 8 books, her most recent being The Lost Gospel of Mary: The Mother of Jesus in Three Ancient Texts. She lives with her husband, the Rev. Gregory Mathewes-Green, in Baltimore, MD, where he is pastor and she is “Khouria” (“Mother”) of the church they founded, Holy Cross Orthodox Church. Their three children are grown and married, and she and Fr. Gregory have nine grandchildren.

The story of Mary is precious to all Christians. The protestants use only the story found in Luke and the other Gospels. The Orthodox take a wider approach to view Mary from the timebefore her birth to her eventual entry into heaven. In the first session Frederica tells the story of Mary as written by the Apostle James. This gospel is not in the Bible canon but is considered true and worthy by church fathers and mothers.

The second session is a discussion of prayers the church has used from the beginning to ask the help of Mary in times of need.
